Curatorial Coffee Hour with Collections Manager Moriah Peoples
Time & Location
About the Event
Join Collections Manager and Gallery Administrator Moriah Peoples for a one-hour discussion about The Amistad Center’s fine art collection, with an emphasis on African American “folk” or “outsider” artist Ellis Ruley. A Connecticut native, Ruley was self-taught and guided by personal stories, feelings, and inspiration from his surroundings. We encourage you to bring your first (or second) cup of morning coffee and engage in a conversation about what “folk” art is, and how contemporary curators approach these uniquely revealing works of art.
