Our exhibitions showcase fine art, books, artifacts, and popular culture material documenting the history of people of African descent in America.

The Amistad Center for Art & Culture presents exhibitions at the Wadsworth Atheneum Museum of Art and at venues across the region and the country—exciting investigations of art and culture influenced by people of African descent, as well as important people and events in American history.

The programs that accompany these exhibitions present fresh perspectives about our culture and encourage visitors to reflect on their own perceptions.
